Piranzout met beschermde oorsprongsbenaming, dit kostbare product van het natuurpark Sečovlje Saltworks, is het resultaat van rusteloze winden, warme zon en hardwerkende zoutwerkers. Het wordt handmatig gemaakt met behulp van traditionele methoden die meer dan 700 jaar oud zijn. Het belangrijkste proces is de natuurlijke kristallisatie in de zoutvelden van het park beschermd door Petola - een waardevol biosedimentsubstraat van mineralen en micro-organismen. Het Piranerzout met oorsprongsbenaming is licht, rijk aan mariene mineralen en heeft een voortreffelijke smaak aangevuld met het moederwater dat in de kristallen is opgesloten.
